Past Missions

In the past few years, God has taken us into the depths of His heart and His Word as we served in India, studied in Taiwan, and taught in Armenia. As we continue to see His transforming power here at home, we are excited to step into what God has for us next… a life of missions!

The Titus Project // Armenia
(January 2009 – March 2009)

You may have heard the quote which says, "The longest distance traveled in a man's life is the distance of information from one's head to one's heart." Well, the Titus Project is designed to help bridge that gap.

The Titus Project is a three-month program designed to develop SBS graduates in communication skills and equip them for teaching and preaching on the mission field. There are many church leaders and pastors around the world who have not had proper Bible training. Through the Titus Project we will be sent out to teach and preach, training up church leaders around the world in God's word. In lecture we receive very practical tools in which we will use to bring the Word of God to the people in the nations we are going.

We will be traveling to Armenia and Azer-B where we will be teaching YWAM staff, students and church congregations the Inductive Method Overview, Bible Overview and teaching through some books. While in Armenia we will be doing a SBS seminar so between Eric and I we will be teaching the books Galatians, Ephesians, Mark, and Acts. We are really excited to share with others the transforming power the Bible has to bring them in a way that they can easily pass on to others.

You cannot give out what you yourself do not have so we are praying that God will use his word to inspire, challenge and transform those we teach so that they can do the same to those around them.

School of Biblical Studies // Taipei, Taiwan
(March 2008 – January 2009)

"the Bible isn't written to you, but for you"

We did it! After nine months in the School of Biblical Studies (SBS) through Youth With a Mission (YWAM), we have made our way through all 66 books of the Bible, five times! It has been an amazing journey learning God's passion, jealousy and love for his people and how his heart's desire is an intimate relationship with his people. We have had the privilege of experiencing the Word of God shape our thinking and understanding of God's heart for the nations, his desire for reconciliation of all people to himself and the power and responsibility that comes in being stewards of God's Word.

Along with delving deep into the Word, we were able to make investments into people's lives which have created many opportunities to share Jesus. Many of our Taiwanese friends have come to know the Lord in these past nine months and we know that God is continuing to pursue those who have now heard about Jesus, but are not yet ready to receive him as their personal savior. God is so good and we are believing in faith that we will see them again for all eternity!

Thank you for everyone who has prayed for us and supported us in our time here in Taiwan. We were so blessed and we hope and pray that we will be able to live out our lives in Spirit and in Truth on this amazing foundation we received in the Word of God and bless those around us.

Missionaries of Charity // Kolkata, India
(January 2008 – March 2008)

We spent three months in Kolkata, India, one of the poorest cities in the world, and volunteered with the Missionaries of Charity. Here we were able to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those who were rejected by society. Our goal was to bring life, light and a flicker of hope, if even for a second, to people who may never have received it from anyone else — through our gracious God we were able to do this!

Eric worked at Kalighat, which is the home for the sick and dying destitute. He spent his days cleaning, bathing, washing, rubbing, talking to, laughing with, and praying for men who, many of them, would pass away in the three months that he was there. God really opened up his eyes to the value of each individual person and their eternal worth.

Amy worked at Daya Dan, which is a home for physically and handicapped orphans. While her main responsibility was running a classroom of with five boys, she also washed beds, bathed, clothed, hugged, sung to, and enjoyed all the boys. God really taught her the meaning of sacrifice and the obedience it takes to really listen to God — how you can't say you'll serve God with all you have and then dictate what that looks like — its more like free falling, and its an amazing thing!
